Poolside Survival Kit

  • Wear waterproof sunscreen for outdoor swimming.
  • Use goggles to protect your eyes
  • Wear a swimming cap to protect your hair from chlorine (and to keep it dry so you don't have to blow-dry after lunch break swim session)
  • Be aware of the other swimmers
  • Do not stop in the middle of the lane
  • Push off the wall in a straight line
  • Be courteous to others and allow them to complete their swim without interference.
  • Don't be afraid to move to a different lane if the pace is unsuitable for you - it's as frustrating for you as it is for your lane mates if you're constantly passing or being passed
  • Communication is the key to a happy flow of traffic. If you're unsure about something, ask other swimmers.
