We’ll never take recreation into serious pool competition: swimming is not that kind of sport. We can, however, take competition into recreation. Not the racing itself, but the inspiration and knowledge that drives the racing.
Let’s aim to build bridges between the two aspects of the sport.
Let’s help recreational swimmers of all ages and abilities to feel involved.
Help them to feel that Swimming New Zealand wants to share knowledge, tips, support – and above all, passion for the water.
What we can offer

Head to the beach at sunrise for an inspiration early morning Swim Use ocean swimming to lift your spirits; the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea will speak to your soul.
- Take a dip in the pool at lunchtime to invigorate your body and mind to better tackle afternoon tasks.
- Wash away the stress of your day with an after work swim session
- Learn to breathe efficiently as you swim, to flood your body and brain with energising oxygen.
- Stretch or float in warm water to help ease muscle tension and free your chi!
