Olympic Games Campaign Manager appointed

21st September 2011

Swimming New Zealand has secured the services of an experienced high performance manager to fill the role of Campaign Manager through to the 2012 London Olympic Games.

With the Olympics fast approaching, Swimming NZ last week approached High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) to ask if performance consultant Rushdee Warley would be available to take on this role. Rushdee has been a performance consultant, firstly with SPARC and now with HPSNZ, for the past four months.

Prior to that, he was High Performance Manager for Swimming South Africa. He held this role from 2004 until earlier this year, when he moved to New Zealand.

Rushdee has managed international teams at Olympic Games, FINA World Long Course and Short Course Championships, and Commonwealth Games. His recent successes with the High Performance programme in South Africa include a 16-medal haul for swimming (half of Team South Africa’s total medal tally) at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.

HPSNZ has agreed to second Rushdee to the role until the London Olympics. He will split his time between working with Swimming NZ while also continuing to work with other sports.

SNZ is grateful for HPSNZ's support for our swimmers in their preparation towards the London Olympics.
