2011 Division II Competition
I am sure that like us you are devastated by the catastrophic events that have taken place in Christchurch over the last 24 hours. First and foremost our thoughts are with the people of Christchurch and those around the country with family and friends in the Canterbury region.
It
is clear that the damage to infrastructure prevents SNZ holding the Division II
event there. After consultation with Swimming Canterbury, we have decided to
cancel this meet. Swimming New Zealand is very aware that this is the only
annual national event for Division II swimmers. For this reason, we are looking
at alternative options for staging the Division II Competition in combination
with another event or by itself later in 2011. Once these decisions are
confirmed, information will be circulated to both regions and clubs.
I have spoken with Air New Zealand and they will credit all fares no matter what class that were purchased prior to February 22. If you call their reservations centre they will process your credit. If you have any questions or issues please contact Maria Courtney who is an account manager with Air New Zealand on maria.courtney@airnz.co.nz. Jet Star has not confirmed their refund policy as yet, but once we hear the process for this I will advise.
A contribution from sales of all Division II merchandise will go to the Canterbury Mayoral Fund, so please help us support the Canterbury community. You should be able to wear the Division II merchandise later in the year, subject to us rescheduling the event.
The most important thing at this time is for us all to
support the community of Canterbury as best we can. All of our thoughts and
