NZQA Qualification for Swim Teachers
Swim Teacher Qualification registered on the NZQA Framework
Swimming New Zealand in consultation with New Zealand Swim Coaches and Teachers (NZSCAT), New Zealand Recreation Association (NZRA), Sport, Fitness and Recreation Industry Training Organisation (SFRITO) and Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) have registered the Assistant Swim Teacher Award on the NZQA Framework.
This is due to be launched in the second quarter of 2006.
The SwimSafe Award for teachers will be called Swimming New Zealand's Assistant Swim Teacher Award (ASTA). The 5 level program for learners will be called SwimStart.
If you are currently a head swim teacher or team leader of a swim school and over see swim teachers and their development, you may be interested in training as an Evidence Gatherer (gather and record evidence on behalf of the SNZ Assessors) for your Swim School, Club or Swimming Pool. Evidence gatherers will be an integral part of the process for new instructors to gain their Assistant Swim Teacher Award.
SNZ invites expressions of interest from individuals, suitably involved and placed in the aquatics industry, to attend one of the Evidence Gatherer Training Workshops. This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in the exciting developments for the Assistant Swim Teacher Award, now offering NZQA Credits and a nationally recognised and accredited qualification for swim teachers and coaches in NZ.
This opportunity to become a SNZ registered Evidence Gatherer will be offered FREE to all those suitable expressions of interest received by SNZ.
