Performance component
Swimmers from the coaches ‘permanent group’ score points by progressing at NAG’s or Opens over a minimum two-year period in accordance with the published SNZ female 13 and over, or male 14 and over, SNZ Squad Age progression standards.
A total of nine points within a three-year period are required for accreditation.
- Swimmers attaining SNZ Squad standards will score three points for each successive year of attainment, i.e. year one scores three points, year two scores six points (three points for each of two successive years), year three scores nine points, etc.
- Swimmers attaining ‘one-year down’ standards will score two points for each successive year of attainment, i.e. year one scores two points, year two scores four points (two points for each of two successive years), year three scores six points.
- Swimmers attaining ‘two-year down’ standards will score one point for each successive year of attainment, i.e. year one scores one point, year two scores two points (one point for each of two successive years), year three scores three points.
Any swimmer attaining a higher age e.g. a 14 year old performing at the 15-year standard gains one extra point for each year above and each year of attainment.
This may seem complicated but it is, in fact, straightforward.
Swimmers can attain these standards on different events during the period of evaluation. It is the responsibility of the applicant coach to submit all relevant documentation for the Performance assessment.
Points gained towards the performance component count for three years of accreditation.
Coaches scoring less than nine points in any five-year period will forfeit their SNZ license and must apply for re-licensing. This may involve re-certification.
Master Performance Coach Diploma
A total of 100 points are required for accreditation with no restriction on the period allowed.
Swimmers attaining Squad standards (i.e. one- or two-year down performances do not count for Diploma points) from the coaches ‘permanent group’ must progress at NAG’s or Opens over a minimum three-year period.
