Assistant Swim Teacher Award (SwimSafe)
Assistant Swim Teacher Award (ASTA) previously known as SwimSafe is the nationally recognised learn to swim and personal survival programme. Integrated into the Health and Physical Education Curriculum, ASTA provides an opportunity for those teaching swimming to be trained and qualified in a recognised programme.
Requirements for Certification
- Attend an ASTA course conducted by a SNZ Tutor
- Complete 20 hours of practical poolside instruction

Complete the ASTA Log Book and return it to your Regional Education Manager -
Submit, along with your Log Book, the ASTA Poolside Checklist completed by a SNZ Registered Evidence Gatherer as well as evidence of a current First Aid Certificate (US6401 & US6402) -
Sign and return the SNZ Code of Conduct to your Regional Education Manager - Please note that this award has a minimum age requirement of 16 years for certification
