Age Group Development
The SNZ Regional Age Group Development/Top Age Group Programme provides swimmers 12-14 years of age opportunities to develop key characteristics that are necessary to become successful at the international level, including attitude, self-responsibility, and skills. The program aims to develop awareness, capability, responsibility and pride in representing SNZ.
Through the areas below, the SNZ Age Group Development Programme will provide technical support, enhanced training opportunities, and sport science support to identify athletes/coaches who meet the selection criteria.
Program components include:
- Identification (Take Your Marks: KIWI Rankings/XLR8)
- Recognition (XLR8 Certificates/Caps)
- Selection and Tracking (RAGD Camps/Top Age Group Camps)
- Development (Camps, Testing, Skill Acquisition, Monitoring, Feedback)
- International Competitions (Aussie Age, Trans Tasman, Queensland Duel, Pacific School Games)
Coaches are a vital link in developing great athletes. The SNZ Age Group Development Programme focuses on coach development, leadership and pathways.
