State 2012 Epic Swim
The State 2012 Epic Swim will be held for the 3rd year running on 14-15 January in the stunning Lake Taupo. This recreational event suits all ages and abilities and is a great opportunity for anyone that has never tried open water before to give it a go. The State New Zealand Open Water Championships will be run in conjunction with the Epic Swim, where the top open water swimmers will battle it out being a trial event for the 2012 Olympics.

Saturday 14 January |
| 07:00 – 13:00 Registration on the beach |
| 08:30 Mini Epic - 100m (5-10 year olds) |
| 08:45 Mid Epic - 1km (10 years and over). Cut off: 45 minutes |
| 09:00 Epic 5km. (12 years and over). Cut off: 2 hours |
| 09:30 Minor Epic - 500m (9-16 year olds) |
| 11:00 New Zealand 10km Open Water Championships |
| 11:01 Epic 10km. (13 years and over). Cut off: 1 hour after 1st home regardless of gender |

13:30 Epic 2.5km. (12 years and over) Cut off: 1 hour 30 minutes |

Sunday 15 January |
| 08:00 – 10:00 Registration on the beach |
| 9:00 Masters 2.5km Classic |
| 10:00 New Zealand 5km Open Water Championships |
