High Performance Centres

High Performance Centre Programme

The HPC programme is a partnership between Swimming New Zealand and the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health.  Most of New Zealand’s elite swimmers are based at the Institute. Entry to the squad is by application.

HIGH PERFORMANCE CENTRE COACHES

Mark Regan – Performance Coach, Swimming New Zealand

Platinum Accreditation Award - Coaches Licence Swimming Australia

Mark came to New Zealand in January 2010 and is now coaching a large number of the high performance swimmers at MISH.  Mark comes to Swimming New Zealand with great international experience as a Head Coach.  Mark was the AIS Head Coach from 1997-2002 where he then moved to the Head Coach role in Denmark from 2002-2008. 

Mark’s coaching medal tally is hugely impressive gaining; Olympic Medals:  3 Silver, 3 Bronze, World Championship Medals:  8 Gold, 9 Silver, 4 Bronze, Commonwealth Games Medals: 16 Gold, 6 Silver, 9 Bronze of which 4 Silver and 3 Bronze were won at the recent Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.  European Medals: 14 and World Records: 2 Relay, 1 Individual.

Scott Talbot – Performance Coach, Swimming New Zealand

BA Psychology – Massey University, Auckland

Scott Talbot is a home grown New Zealand Swimming Coach who is fast becoming one of New Zealand’s most prolific swimming coaches ever. He currently holds the highest number of World Rankings than any other swimming coach in New Zealand and Scott is an integral part of the High Performance coaching unit at MISH in Auckland, New Zealand. 

Scott is a recipient of the SPARC Coach Accelerator Scholarship and was nominated SNZ Coach of the Year in 2010.  At the recent Commonwealth Games in Delhi, Scott coached 5 swimmers at the Games – 3 of whom won: 2 Silver medals and 3 Bronze Medals.  A further swimmer coached by Scott won a Bronze Medal at the 2010 Pan Pacifics, California.
