BASE Sports NZ
During 2006, Swimmng New Zealand, BikeNZ, Athletics NZ and Equestrian Sports NZ combined to form a separate company called BASE Sports NZ Ltd.
The purpose of BASE Sports NZ is to enable us to use our combined mass to negotiate more beneficial official supplier agreements and to give us access to a larger membership database for possible joint marketing opportunities.
The first official supplier contract that we have entered into has been the provision of a Sports Information Management System (SIMS) which will enable all parties to more effectively deliver services to their membership.
With the support of the LION Foundation and SPARC, we contracted Data Torque LTD to develop the Sports Information Management System based on their existing ZEUS application which is used by the NZ and other Olympic Committees.
The new system is now being used by all 4 sports and incorporates the following features;

The system has been implemented in such a way that other NSO’s who are interested in the BASE concept can have the system implemented for them at a fraction of the cost involved in the original project. Plus the key benefits of not having to complete a tender process for services and re-negotiate contracts for SIMS which are lengthy, costly and require specialist expertise.
Some of the projects BASE Sports NZ Ltd are investigating for 2007 include joint tendering and managing of:

Travel Management: Preferred supplier arrangements for travel agencies, air travel, rental cars, hotels, etc

Mobile Phones: A mobile phone provider to gain better pricing and service through joint spending power

Investigation of shared services
