Absolute Insurance launches the NZ Swimming Roll of Honour

The Absolute Insurance 08 Olympic Trials coincided with the launch of the NZ Swimming Roll of Honour.

Former NZ Swimming “great”, Alison Fitch, who is currently working for Absolute Insurance, is responsible for compiling the Roll of Honour and has been assisted by Melissa Ingram who has collected and published all the profiles of the current NZ Team on the website (www.absins.co.nz).

“Having a site that recognises and remembers all our past Olympians, Commonwealth Games & World Champs Team members & medallists – right back to our first medallist – Malcolm Champion (1912), is incredibly important” said Jaynie Hudgell (nee Parkhouse), Director of Absolute Insurance.  “It’s a gift from us to the NZ swimming community, which we know they will find fascinating”.

The Roll of Honour is a “work in progress” and Absolute Insurance plans to have most of the historical information posted on the site within the next few months.  If you belong on the Roll of Honour, or know someone who does, please email Alison at afitch@absins.co.nz and she will make sure that you are duly recognised.

In time the Roll of Honour will also recognise NZ Team Coaches and hard-working Officials who have contributed to the sport of swimming in New Zealand.

 Club Fundraising Opportunities

Absolute Insurance, corporate sponsors of SNZ, have just launched their SwimSure Club Fundraising program. This program is designed to help Clubs raise funds in the most painless way possible.

“We have worked hard over the past few months to make the process as simple as possible for busy people” said Jaynie Hudgell (nee Parkhouse), Director of Absolute Insurance.

To find out more about this fantastic program, go to www.swimsure.co.nz and register today.

In 1974 at the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch a virtually unknown 17 year old named Jaynie Parkhouse swam to victory in the 800m Freestyle thus becoming the first New Zealand woman to win a Swimming Gold Medal at either Olympic or Commonwealth Games level.

32 years later Jaynie Hudgell (nee Parkhouse) along with her husband Craig, and business partners Chris and Marie Boon - the owners of Absolute Insurance Ltd - have entered into an exciting Sponsorship program with Swimming New Zealand.

This Sponsorship program will benefit both the national body as well as every local Swimming Club in New Zealand.

Craig and Jaynie Hudgell, and Chris & Marie Boon, Owners and Directors of Absolute Insurance Ltd, are absolutely thrilled to be one of Swimming New Zealand’s corporate sponsors for the next five years, primarily the sponsors of the Swimming New Zealand National Events.

“We believe that our partnership with Swimming New Zealand will be a win-win for everyone concerned – the swimmers, the Clubs, the organization as a whole, and for Absolute Insurance” says Jaynie.

We are proud to be associated with such a progressive and professional organization, whose values closely mirror ours at Absolute Insurance.  The young men and women involved in the sport at all levels are among the finest in the country, and it is a privilege to be able to contribute to their future success”.
