SNZ to work more closely with Masters
16th March 2007

Swimming New Zealand and New Zealand Masters will form a closer alliance in the future.

The two organisations have recently agreed to work together and have defined each other’s roles in the swimming community.

SNZ is the organisation that represents swimming and in this light the organisation wants to further act as the conduit with all organisations in the aquatic arena.  This will ultimately assist in ensuring all New Zealanders swim to their potential.

SNZ said the relationship with NZ Masters was a logical fit with both organisations offering mutual benefits which will grow the service to the swimming community.

”It is fantastic that our two organisations are working together and communicating at a strategic level,” said Roger Eagles, Chairman of New Zealand Masters. “This will ultimately mean our respective programmes are better aligned and coordinated and we can build and grow swimming together.”

The Board of Swimming New Zealand is committed to improving the connection between all aspects of swimming in New Zealand,” said Murray Coulter (pictured right), Chairman of SNZ.

“Swimming New Zealand has programmes from infants to the elderly recreational swimmer and NZ Masters certainly provide integral adult swimming services and activities within that continuum.

“It is essential we are aligned and working together sharing resources and expertise. This partnership is positive, exciting and the most definitely the start of something extraordinary.”

Swimming New Zealand has recently agreed to closer working relationships with both Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Water Safety Auckland to develop and maximise the aims of all bodies through cooperative ventures.
