North Shore swimmer Glenn Snyders (pictured) has won the B final on the third night of finals in the pool at the World University Games in Bangkok.

Snyders took out the B final of the 100m breaststroke in 1:01.13, just 3.10ths of a second outside his own New Zealand record, after he broke the 200m breaststroke national mark earlier in the meet.

He was second last after the first 50m but powered home impressively for the victory.

Team-mate Kelly Bentley from Wellington was sixth in the B final of the women’s 200m breaststroke.

Later today (NZ time) New Zealand swimmers will contest the heats in seven events on the fourth day of competition.

Andrew McMillan and Robert Voss will compete in the 400m freestyle heats, Helen Norfolk in the 400m individual medley, Moss Burmester and Corney Swanepoel in the 100m butterfly, Melissa Ingram, Liz Coster, John Zulch and Cameron Stanley in the 100m backstroke, Ingram and Norfolk in the 200m freestyle and the men’s team in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
