Swimming New Zealand Trust Inc                                         

The NZ Swimming Trust is an autonomous incorporated society established in 1989, the year of the centenary of the sport in New Zealand, by former President Don Stanley assisted by a group of former Presidents, to provide benefits and grants on the basis of expense reimbursement to competitors and members affiliated to the then NZ Swimming Federation.  It is now a registered Charitable Trust CC28033. 

The guidelines to help applicants are broad and able to be for scholarships, bursaries, sponsorships, coaching, travel and general expenses of potential NZ aquatic representatives and members affiliated to the Trust.  The Trust is also empowered to give consideration to use funds for the improvement of the quality of competitions. To date the Trustees have supported competitors at various levels based on criteria set annually. Applications are usually invited in November closing in February and grants to successful applicants notified by early April.

Now, after twenty years the invested capital fund has grown to $264,000.00 of which $39,000.00 is on interest free loans to the Trust.  The latest grants made in April 2009, totaled $18,000.00 and went to assist 29 applicants from Swimming, Diving and Synchronized Swimming.  7 received $1000.00 and 22 $500.00.   With the latest grants the trust has now distributed $171,000.00.

The Trust is currently supported by SNZ, DNZ, SSNZ, Regional Assoc of SNZ and a number of Clubs and Individuals. Some are Gold and Silver Members and others pay an annual subscription. SNZ and five Regional Associations also support the Trust by way of levies from National and Regional Championships

To continue to advance, the Trust needs your continued assistance by way of donations – subscription – interest free loans of surplus funds. Grants are only made from interest earned.

The subscription form is currently being reviewed as most of the original 20 year Gold and 10 year Silver subscriptions are drawing to a conclusion. The annual subscription is $30.00 and any donations over $5.00 are tax deductible. Application forms are available from the Secretary
