Club Membership

The following shall be the Members of SNZ and will remain so, as long as they shall continue to abide by any rules and bylaws of the Club to which they belong, of the Regional Association to which such Club belongs, and of SNZ.  (SNZ Constitution 2006)
  1. All members of clubs affiliated to SNZ
  2. All members of SCATNZ (Inc)
  3. All life members of SNZ appointed from time to time
  4. Persons and or/associations as determined by the Board from time to time

Swimming New Zealand is currently in the process of connecting to the wider swimming community. The board shall set criteria and fees for any new classes of membership.

Swimming New Zealand collects an affiliation fee off each competitive member. Regional Associations also charge a fixed affiliation fee for their competitive members. These are detailed below. Club Members should contact Club Secretary/Registrar for details on any applicable membership fees and their method of collection.

The following affiliation fees are collected by SNZ and Regional Associations these fees are set annually by the members of SNZ at the Annual General Meeting:

Competitive

"Competitive Swimmer" means a member of SNZ who actively engages from time to time in competing in either inter-club, regional, national or international competitions.
 

$40 per annum for SNZ

$25 per annum for Regional Associations

Club Fee

It was agreed by the membership in 2007 to charge a 'flat fee' to all SNZ Affiliated Clubs in NZ to cover all other non-competitive members, officials and associates. This flat fee is as follows:

$112.50 per annum for SNZ

$170 per annum for Regional Associations

Non-Competitive, Officials and Associates

All swimming members, officials, administrators within a club pay no affiliation fee to SNZ or the Regional Association this is covered by the Club Fee as stated above.

A Club Members membership contributes primarily to the efficient and effective management of Swimming in NZ through the provision of a professionally run national office.

Key roles and functions of the national office include:
  • Service the membership firstly by supporting and advising the 16 Regional Associations who in turn support and advise their affiliated Clubs.
  • Represent the interests of swimming in New Zealand
  • Develop membership programmes including but not limited to High Performance, Development, Technical Programmes, Recreation, Competition, Events, Club Development
  • Develop and facilitate SNZ Education courses
  • Market and promote swimming in NZ
  • Coordinate the consultation within the membership when developing new programmes.
  • Coordinate National Swimming Activities
  • Provide advice and advocacy for member organisations, members and the NZ public
  • Connect and collaborate with other like minded organisations for the betterment of Swimming in NZ
  • Connection to the international swimming community, and access to international competition through the Federation Internationale Natation.

NB: 'competitive' membership enables the member to attend inter-club, regional, national or international competitions in addition to the above services.

Your membership and registration fees cover one year of activity.
